The Social Network (2010)

The Social Network tells the story of the founding of Facebook, through when the founder, Mark Zuckerberg, made a BILLION dollars. I could have done it, too, but I wanted him to feel special.

Directed by David Fincher, who I thought would be above this sort of crap, The Social Network stars Zuckerberg doppelganger Jesse Eisenberg from Zombieland and Adventureland. At present, they have not renamed the film The Social Networkland. But stay tuned. It could happen.

MOVIE NAME Script

The screenplay was written by Aaron Sorkin, who wrote A Few Good Men, created The West Wing, and who I also thought would be too good for a movie about Facebook, and the story is based on the novel by Ben Mezrich. Mezrich is 41, Sorkin is 49, and Fincher is 47, so I imagine a lot of the pitch included explaining what Facebook is to these fogies. “Eh? Of course I book in the face. I love to read! Eh? What’s a computer? You mean abacus? Now there’s a machine that calculates tens of numbers. You kids and your electricity.”

What’s Good About It?

A million dollars isn’t cool. You know what’s cool? A Billion Dollars. Don’t know why I capatilized the ‘D’ in dollars. Or the ‘B’ in billion for that matter. Only I DID.

What’s Bad About It?

Justin Timberlake has a sizeable role. It’s a movie about nerds. (I’m a meathead jock)

Our Clever Prediction

Fincher has a lot of talent, so The Social Network will probably be pretty good. I will see it. I will likely enjoy it. And I will tell everyone it’s crap and to not see it. Seriously, do you want more films about websites? Oooooo, the MySpace movie, Youtube, Google. I will be sooooo cool to make movies about the internet.

Ladies, Brian is in a committed relationship with a woman who, thankfully, doesn’t read Starseeker. It is this reluctance to read his work that keeps their relationship going. God bless America.
