The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part One is the first half of the third, and final Hunger Games book. Now Katniss must go to war with the Capitol to save the districts.
Spoilers: Katniss survives the second Hunger Games she goes through, as does her boyfriend. But now she’s a huge symbol for the people. And the Capitol REALLY wants her dead now. She was being a good girl for a while, playing their game even if she didn’t like it or agree with it, but she was clearly putting on a show and giving the people hope in Catching Fire. Now she needs to die. And the evil President and whatnot are gonna kill her.
Katniss goes on the run, and does her best to keep herself and her family alive. Oh, and her family is no longer off limits, so that’s going to take a lot of work. But she joins up with the rebellion, and through her go-getter spirit she’s able to inspire more to break from the Capitol and take the land for themselves.
And then she dies, the end.
Just kidding. This is only part one of two!
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is being directed by Francis Lawrence, the director of Catching Fire. He didn’t do the first one, but he looks like he’s doing an exceptional job with the second. Lawrence also directed I Am Legend and Constantine. He’s a pretty talented dude. Too bad he’s wasting his talents here.
Of course, Mockingjay Part 1 is based on the novel by Suzanne Collins.

What’s Good About It?
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 will begin the end of the Hunger Games Trilogy, except now it’s four movies cause studios wanted to really milk this sucker for all it’s worth. If you like the job Jennifer Lawrence is doing as Katniss, no doubt you’ll really like this sequel.
What’s Bad About It?
Um… the books were garbage. The parts in the games were pretty entertaining, but the rest was absolutely stupid. Worst movie heroine ever. Don’t get me started.
OKAY I’M STARTED. She doesn’t make a whole lot of decisions in the books. She does sacrifice herself in the first book for her sister, and there’s nothing wrong with her fighting to keep herself alive, but people act like she’s inspirational. Not only in the book, but also people who’ve read the book and think of her as a role model. She’s mostly incapable of making a decision and for reasons that are beyond me people are attracted to her. She just sort of exists, and fuck her.
Our Clever Prediction
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 will likely make boatloads of cash. Unless people are really disappointed by Catching Fire, the third and fourth films will most likely bring in a couple hundred million at least. You can count on them to be successful.
