Terrence Howard Blames Robert Downey Jr. For Getting Replaced in ‘Iron Man 2’

Remember how Rhodey was different in Iron Man? If you follow sites like ours then you might know that Terrence Howard, the guy who played Rhodey in the first movie, was replaced in the second film by Don Cheadle, because he refused to take a paycut. He has expressed his displeasure with the whole episode before, but now he has come up with more sordid details. He was asked about his exit from the franchise during his appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, and he replied with accusing his co-star Robery Downey Jr., saying:

It turns out that the person that I helped become Iron Man, when it was time to re-up for the second one took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out. We did a three-picture deal. So that means, you did the deal ahead of time. It was going to be a certain amount for the first one, a certain amount for the second, certain amount for the third. They came to me [for] the second and said, ‘We will pay you one-eighth of what we contractually had for you, because we think the second one will be successful with or without you.’ And I called my friend that I helped get the first job, and he didn’t call me back for three months.

When asked about his Downey Jr., Howard said:

Oh, I love him. God’s gonna bless him.
