Peanuts (2015) – Charles Schulz’s Classic Cartoon Comes to the Big Screen!

Peanuts is a new animated feature based on the legendary comic strip and numerous previous other films based on the comic that are as much a part of my childhood as your momma.

Basically, I was always a player.

Anyways, it’s been a long time coming, but there will be a Peanuts film! It both continues uses the past animation and voice work style while also bringing some new things to the table, at least in terms of animation, as the film will use 3D CGI to make it new and special, while also retaining much of what is so beloved.

What’s the film about? I don’t know. No doubt Snoopy will be in a fighter jet, and Charlie Brown will be frustrated when trying to kick a football, but otherwise there’s no story details out there right now.

Peanuts comes from director Steve Martino, who directed Ice Age: Continental Drift, and made Horton Hears a Who! before that. He will be working from a screenplay by Bryan and Craig Schulz, with help from Cornelius Uliano. Bryan and Craig as the legendary Charles Schulz’s son and grandson. So it has the family stamp of approval on it!

Who’s In It?

No casting news yet.

What’s Good About It?

Peanuts is one of the greatest and most beloved cartoons and comics of all time. It shouldn’t be hard to leverage some of the fond memories in a new film. Granted they can do so in a way that actually works for people and is careful with the source material.

Okay, it might not be that easy.

What’s Bad About It?

Peanuts has a lot of baggage. I think it’s good baggage, but if you don’t, this might not be your cup of tea.

Our Clever Prediction

I see Peanuts making a fair bit at the box office. If there’s a safe bet for kids that might not seem like it’ll be boring for parents, it’s Peanuts.
