Maleficent launches a new trailer with a new take on the villain (or should I say hero?), 300: Rise of an Empire burns a lovely city, The Raid 2 becomes much more understandable, Muppets Most Wanted goes full product placement, and A Most Wanted Man shows Phillip Seymour Hoffman has a sweet new accent!
Maleficent has a new trailer that gives a much better view of the story. Look, it’s not like we’re going to be surprised by the tale. It’s Sleeping Beauty. What evs. BUT, this trailer definitely makes it seem like Angelina Jolie, who plays the villain in the traditional Sleeping Beauty story, Maleficent, is really being either motherly or at least big sisterly to the young beauty. This has been my impression for a while, but it’s kinda cool to see, and it makes sense in the broader scope of this being a Disney movie, since it’ll make the villain not so bad, therefore giving children less nightmares. Not my children, as they’ll only be subjected to the original, and I’ll tell them Santa isn’t real and clowns hunger for their flesh.
300: Rise of an Empire
300: Rise of an Empire has a new poster today that shows an image from yesterday’s sweet new trailer (check it out on the main preview page, it’s worth at least two viewings). It shows bad guy Xerxes standing before his people, declaring that Athens will Burn. I’m not sold. I’m pretty sure Athens doesn’t burn, but that’s me. I’m not a scholar, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, so…
Dumb and Dumber To
Dumb and Dumber To has released its first official movie still, and… well, the leads, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, looks like they’re having fun and are certainly sporting the proper hairdos. Honestly, the picture does nothing for me, but it’s a sequel to Dumb and Dumber, which I love, but don’t want a sequel to. I’d rather they leave it well enough alone.
The Raid 2
The Raid 2 has a new trailer today and it does a very good job of showing just how awesome this film will likely be, and REALLY sets up the hero as a total badass. One undercover cop against the whole underworld? I don’t think he has a chance, unless it’s this dude. HE has a chance. Cause he is freaking AWESOME. WOW.
Muppets Most Wanted
Muppets Most Wanted has a new TV spot that’s really a shortened version of what will debut for the Superbowl. I suppose it’s not a half bad idea: you can’t afford a Superbowl TV spot, but Toyota can, but why not split the costs anyways? And so synergy is born.
And hey look! Terry Crews!
A Most Wanted Man
Muppets Most Wanted then A Most Wanted Man… Yep.
A Most Wanted Man has released its first film clip, and it’s pretty cool. It showcases Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s new accent, which is incredible, and provides a few insights into the plot, as well as the main character, who is a man torn between many worlds it would seem. The main dude isn’t present in the film clip, but Rachel McAdams talks to Hoffman about him, so it’s all good.
