Lullaby is a drama about a a young man who returns to his family after years away to see his father pass away. He reconciles with his dad, mom, sister and love while becoming a man his dad would be proud of.
The son, Jonathan, played by Garrett Hedlund, is a musician, and a bit of a wayward son. He’s done his best, but his dad first got cancer when he was in high school, and he sorta ran away. But this time is different. After a number of close calls, this time his dad is asking to be pulled off life support. So he returns to help out, and his sister is angry, his mom is scared, and his old girlfriend is concerned. He befriends a young woman with cancer. She never got to go to her prom, and he decides to make her life, and the life of the others in the cancer ward a little better.
In the meantime, Jonathan tries to reconnect with his sister, who hates him for running off, and comfort his mom, who is grief stricken after so many years of taking care of her husband.
Lullaby comes from writer/director Andrew Levitas. He’s been in a handful of films, and is something of an artist apparently, but this is his first film as a writer or director. At least the trailer looks good!
Lullaby Release Date
June 13, 2014 – In theaters and On Demand
Who’s In It?
Jessica Brown Findlay
What’s Good About It?
Lullaby has an exceptional cast, which is something for a first time director. I imagine the screenplay must have a lot of heart. The trailer certainly looks good.
What’s Bad About It?
I’m not sure about the director. He’s assembled a heck of a cast, and the story is intriguing, but I’m still not sold on him.
Our Clever Prediction
Lullaby is in theaters and on demand the same day, so it isn’t likely to be a big box office smash, but the story looks good, the actors are incredible, and I like the trailer, so definitely give it a shot when it comes out this June.
