Guardians of the Galaxy debuts a very fun, surprising trailer, 22 Jump Street doesn’t surprise nearly as much, The next Terminator gets a hero, X-Men: Days of Future Past inundates us with photos, and 300: Rise of an Empire brings us its Best Poster Yet!
Guardians of the Galaxy
So this trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy debuted on Jimmy Kimmel, but it’s not nearly as unfunny as Kimmel, so I feel that was a bit of a bad choice. That said, this looks incredible. Yeah, it’s a little goofy, but I like Chris Pratt, and he looks to be doing an incredible job as a lead in an action flick. This also looks solidly Marvel, with slick visuals and action, yet at the same time it’s clearly different, with a far greater emphasis on humor.
22 Jump Street
Honestly, I see no point for this new trailer for 22 Jump Street. I swear it’s the same, or very nearly the same, as the ones we’ve seen in the past, so I can’t really recommend watching it, unless you haven’t seen the other ones, in which case you’re in for a treat! Just like the cookies your momma gives me after I bang her (sometimes she gives me Rice Krispy Treats!), this is a treat. A sweet treat. Crunchy. Marshmallow-y. Yum.
I don’t know where I was going with this, but now I want a Rice Krispy Treat. Dang.
I’m not really sure what to make of Terminator, as it’s a reboot of the franchise. I believe it’s a straight up remake, with the story advanced to present day, and a resistance fighter named Kyle Reese coming back in time to save the life of a young woman who’s not even conceived yet son, John Connor, will one day save the world by rising up against the robots who would take over our world. While I’m sure they’ll deviate from the original a bit to make the new flick stand out, I don’t think it’s going to be terribly different in the overall scope. That said, the film has been working hard on casting with Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke playing Sarah Connor, and Arnold Schwarzenegger in the film once again (presumably as a Terminator, but who knows?). So there’s gotta be a Kyle Reese, right? And he has to be pretty badass to take on a Terminator. Enter Jai Courtney, who played Bruce Willis’ son in the last Die Hard and was on Spartacus. He’ll be Kyle Reese. Honestly, not a bad choice. He has a good look and can play action hero fairly well in my opinion. I don’t think the film is going to be any good, but it could be. It could be.
X-Men: Days of Future Past
X-Men: Days of Future Past has a buttload of new photos today, and I know, I KNOW, I say buttload a lot, but that’s only when I tell your mom what she’s getting (I’m definitely tapping dat ass today) so know that this is really a lot of photos, and they aren’t half bad. The character pics suck, but that’s mostly to be expected, so it’s really the other pics that excite me. The shot of Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique is the best one, since it shows her tight tummy and rack fairly well. So… cool.
300: Rise of an Empire
300: Rise of an Empire has a new poster that I have to admit is my favorite for the movie thus far. Instead of an individual character it provides a somewhat familiar image, at least to fans of the original, and makes good use of the iconic look of the Spartan helmet, which is actually quite cool. I haven’t loved the other posters up to this point, as they focused on the new characters, and a few returning ones, and while I like the characters they’re using, I’d rather see more of a battle scene than an individual within a battle scene, you know? Anyways, this looks cool.
