Fast & Furious 7 (2015): Movie Preview

Fast & Furious 7

Fast and Furious 7? Yes, they’re making another Fast & Furious movie, what else did you expect? The sixth instalment earned $787.4 million worldwide. Since the fifth movie, the franchise has been rejuvenated through the charisma of Dwayne Johnson, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. The new film will have some new members joining the veterans; some international films stars, others renowned professional fighters.

Fast & Furious 7

Vin Diesel and his cohorts drive really hard and save the world from evil with the power of guns and explosions.

Justin Lin, the guy who directed all the F&F movies since Tokyo Drift, didn’t sign on to this film, as this has a tighter production schedule. James Wan, director of Saw and The Conjuring, was brought in to assume the mantle. He’ll be directing the film from a screenplay by Chris Morgan.

Release Date

The film will release on July 11, 2014.

The date was shifted to April 10, 2015.

Who’s in it?

Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto. He is also one of the producers.

Paul Walker as Brian O’Conner. Walker died in a brutal car crash on November 30, 2013. The filmmakers decided to “retire” his character in the movie, using the footage they had.

Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs. For a brief period, Johnson’s involvement was uncertain due to scheduling conflicts, but the studio managed to bring The Rock back on-board through the power of $$$.

Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce.

Jason Statham as Ian Shaw, the bad guy. He is out for revenge for his brother, who was killed with his crew in the previous film.

Ronda Rousey. The American MMA fighter is the first UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, and is reportedly in this film.

Tony Jaa. The Ong Bak star will make his Hollywood debut with this movie. Hopefully he’ll get to kick some proper ass and not be relegated to the sidelines.

Kurt Russell. The Big Trouble in Little China star is rumored to be in the movie.

Nathalie Emmanuel as someone hot. She’s the dragon lady’s translator chick from Game of Thrones.

Djimon Hounsou

None yet.

The Good Stuff

The line-up this time looks better than that of the Expendables films. The previous films have been fairly entertaining dumb action movies. The franchise has found its winning formula, and it seems to be making the most out of it.

The Bad Stuff

If you’re looking for anything even a tiny bit more cerebral than unapologetic action porn, you’ll be sorely disappointed.
