Ender’s Game issues a challenge to its hero, Carrie isn’t so nice to her momma, Thor: The Dark World launches two new videos with sweet new footage, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty reveals his secrets, Ron Burgundy shills some Dodge Dakotas, Fast & Furious 7’s villain gets a sweet ride, and Machete Kills a featurette!
I’m trying to not be too excited for Ender’s Game. The film looks pretty decent, and the casting is getting better the more I see of them, but I love those books, and I don’t want to be let down.
Queue the Beatles
Don’t let me down, da na na, da nana na, Don’t let me down…
Anyways, this new film clip just keeps giving me hope, which is the one thing I keep asking it to not do. This film clip is sorta a jerk.
I’m barely interested in Carrie at this point. I think it’ll be a fine adaptation, but it’s totally unnecessary and as such, who cares?
Anyways, I do like that the story not only shows a teenage girl coming to grips with bullying and her new superpowers, but it’s also about a young girl challenging her overbearing religious mom’s authority over her life.
Thor: The Dark World
Thor: The Dark World has two new videos today, and they’re very different from one another. The first is a new TV spot with a fair bit of new footage, and it’s all incredibly cool stuff. The second is a video of Marvel’s top dude, Kevin Feige, who will be doing a Skype video conferencing thing for the film where he’ll answer lots of questions about the film. I’m guessing he won’t spoil everything, but YOU NEVER KNOW.
Actually, I do.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty has a new trailer that really drives home the inspirational aspects of the film, and makes it seem very uplifting. I like it. I think the dreamer goes off on a quest story works very well for Stiller, and it doesn’t come across as too much of a mid-life crisis type film, which is good. I’m definitely very excited for this.
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues
I have to give Will Ferrell and the crew behind Anchorman 2 a lot of credit, this is a hilarious product placement tie in for the commercials. It gives away absolutely nothing from the film, yet sells me on the funniness of Ferrell and the film, and while it’s totally blatant, the fact that Ferrell has been doing small regional beer commercials makes this even funnier. Seriously, nice.
Fast & Furious 7
Fast & Furious 7‘s director, James Wan, has released a photo of him in front of the bad guy’s car in the film, which is a pretty badass car, one associated with James Bond: the Aston Martin. I don’t know much about cars, but that’s an expensive one.
Machete Kills has a new featurette today that is mostly the cast talking about how much fun they have shooting with Robert Rodriguez, who I have to say does seem like a revolutionary director in so many ways. Not only does he handle a number of roles on any given film, from writer, director, director of photography, composer, editor and more, but he also has a lot of energy to just get into a scene, let his actors act, and get on with the next scene. It’s a nice thing to see, and I think you can tell in the film that he’s having a lot of fun. It shows.
