Brick Mansions (2014) – Paul Walker and Parkour?

brick mansions

Brick Mansions is one of Paul Walker’s final films. It’s an action flick set inside a walled off prison state that’s run by a mobster who is holding the surrounding community hostage because of some missiles he gets access to. A lone cop (Walker) is sent in with a parkour loving criminal to save the day.

I’d love to tell you there’s more to the story than what I’ve laid out, but it’s a fairly basic film. I like the Escape from New York vibe of a prison city, but it’s still sorta far out for a regular old action flick. The action in the trailer looks good due to Frenchman David Belle, and Walker is a capable enough lead, so it should be fun.

Brick Mansions

Brick Mansions comes primarily from writer/producer Luc Besson, who has a long history of making or being part of decent action flicks like Taken, Leon the Professional, The Fifth Element, and The Transporter, so this is as much his film as it is director Camille Delamarre, who mostly has experience editing films like Taken 2, Columbiana and Transporter 3. So… this will be well-edited.

What’s Good About It?

Brick Mansions features one of Paul Walker’s last performances, and while I didn’t love his stuff, especially the horrid Fast and Furious films, he seemed like a decent enough guy for a big movie star.

What’s Bad About It?

RZA is in this. Yeah, that RZA. HUH?

Our Clever Prediction

Brick Mansions will likely not be a huge hit at the box office, but it should get a boost from being Walker’s last film, so you might hear a bit more about it in the coming weeks.
