Batman Vs. Superman gets an Alfred AND a Lex Luthor! The Amazing Spider-Man 2, 3 Days to Kill & Captain America: The Winter Soldier tease their Super Bowl TV spots, Winter’s Tale didn’t make me cry in its new trailer (or did it?), Robocop builds the next generation of hero, Non-Stop gets a little rough, and Under the Skin has a new trailer that unnerves just a bit.
Batman Vs. Superman
Batman Vs. Superman has cast Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Alfred! Honestly, my knee jerk reaction was that Eisenberg was a bad choice, but they’re not going the traditional route with this film. Superman is young and inexperienced while Batman is older, and it makes sense to have a Lex Luthor boy genius type, and Eisenberg certainly comes across as that sort of role. Plus, I kinda don’t like him, so I don’t mind him being a villain.
Jeremy Irons as Alfred is outstanding. Again, a different path than Michael Caine, but Irons comes across as an ex-soldier type better than Caine. I loved Caine, but Irons will be outstanding I think.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has a new, decently long TV spot that’s just a tease for the main TV spot set to air with the Super Bowl. Honestly, it’s a good spot, with plenty of action, and some focus on Spider-Man choosing to be a hero, and the consequences of that choice. Good stuff.
3 Days to Kill
3 Days to Kill has a Super Bowl TV spot too, and it’s not half bad. I was kinda surprised by the beginning, with the daughter’s new boyfriend, but then I understood they were trying to make Kevin Costner appeal to men again. Tin Cup really ruined him for the less fair sex. But I like that his daughter’s boyfriend is a little Euro dick and he’s mean to him.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Captain America: The Winter Soldier also has a tease for its Super Bowl spot, but this one is far more of a tease than the Spider-Man one, with only 15 seconds of footage, though it does tease The Winter Soldier himself, and does so in a cool way, so that’s good, but I really like the ending, with the catwalk moment. I think that’ll play really well as a badass fight scene. At least I hope so.
Winter’s Tale has an awesome new trailer, and it really shows more of the film than I’d have previously thought. It’s less allegorical about saving souls and evil, and more “Russell Crowe serves Lucifer.”
I honestly love it! I get the impression much of the old timey parts will be about the allegory, but when he comes to the present it’s going to be more real world, with the evil stuff slowly creeping in. Very cool.
Robocop has a new TV spot with a heck of a lot of action, and it’s not half bad. I like the visuals for the most part, though I still feel disappointed by Robocop’s speed. I just wish he’d plod along like in the first movie. He’s more badass that way.
Non-Stop has a new film clip that shows the film is relatively badass, especially Liam Neeson, but also that he’s been set up, and might be fighting an enemy he doesn’t understand.
Also, he growls a lot like he does.
Under the Skin
Under the Skin has a new trailer today, and the first half sort of upset me. It really did. It was just a couple circles, but the music was intense, and I’m easily swayed by creepy music. I JUST AM. I can’t wait for this film. We get to see Scarlett Johansson’s tits. FINALLY.
