Ain’t Them Bodies Saints is a crime drama about a Texas convict who took the blame for his wife’s crime, and after spending a few years in jail escapes and sets out to reunite with her.
The wife shot a police man. Not a good idea. Why she did is yet unclear, but it appears she may have had good reason. She’s also pregnant. The husband takes the blame. He goes to jail, and she says she’ll wait for him. And she does, though another police officer comes sniffing around cause he’s interested in her. When the husband escapes from jail, the police officer has more reason to come around and question her, and they start to develop some chemistry, but she’s going to stay true to her husband, right?
Ain’t Them Bodies Saints
Ain’t Them Bodies Saints comes from writer/director David Lowery. He has a fair bit of experience as a writer, editor and cinematographer, so that explains why the trailer (below) looks so nice. It’ll certainly be a well-shot film. With Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara as the leads it should also have some good performances.

Who’s In It?
What’s Good About It?
The combination of a great cast, good cinematography and what seems like a good story should prove to make a quality film. Casey Affleck has turned out to be a very talented actor. Suck it, Ben.
Who’s also not bad.
What’s Bad About It?
I worry about the August release date for Ain’t Them Bodies Saints. This is clearly Oscar bait, so it should come out a bit later to capitalize. Still, it might just be a bit early as a way to keep the film from being swallowed up by bigger films.
Our Clever Prediction
I don’t see a big box office in Ain’t Them Bodies Saints’s future, but it might do well at the box office, and it looks pretty decent to be honest. I have some high hopes. I’ll try to keep them in check, but no promises.
NO PROMISES SUCKAS.
