We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011)

We Need to Talk About Kevin is a story about… Kevin. Well, it’s really about his mother, a smart broad who never wanted to have a kid in the first place, but does her best anyways. Oh, but the kid is a pain in the butt and goes on a killing spree. With a crossbow.

Here’s a thought. Stop talking about Kevin and burn him. Burn him with fire.

Or talk TO him. Sometimes kids just need love. But those are the only two options. Talk to him, or burn him.

I should write a book on parenting.

We Need to Talk About Kevin

Lynne Ramsay directed We Need to Talk About Kevin, which she cowrote with Rory Kinnear. It’s based on the novel by Lionel Shriver. Watch the trailer. It’s interesting to note that Shriver says the film is a brilliant adaptation of his book. Very few writers like their films on screen.

What’s Good About It?

The trailer looks good, and while I get a bit bored by stories about current events like school shootings, it takes a cool approach, sorta half Damian, half Revolutionary Road.

What’s Bad About It?

Worst title for a movie in a long time.

Our Clever Prediction

We Need to Talk About Kevin might get Tilda Swinton an Oscar nomination, and if it does, then it’ll do pretty well.
