Unknown White Male follows a man who awakens from a coma and discovers that someone has taken over his identity, and no one believes he is who is says he is. Including his wife. Dun dun da.
Dr. Martin Harris wakes from a coma. But wait! Someone else is Dr. Martin Harris now. And is probably banging his wife, as she acts as if she doesn’t remember him either. With the help of a Berlin taxi driver, the doc sets out to prove his identity, only to find a vast conspiracy along the way.
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who previously directed Orphan and House of Wax, Unknown White Male has a pretty good cast considering the synopsis. Liam Neeson will play the good doctor, January Jones his wife, Diane Kruger the taxi driver, cause all taxi drivers look like her, and Frank Langella will play a character names Rodney Cole, who I’m betting is the bad guy. Langella is such a good bad guy.
The writer has a version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde under his belt, although that is his last credited work, which was in 1995. So I’m thinking he went to rehab. For 15 years. Like Lindsay Lohan!

I go on Craig’s List all the time putting up ads as an Unknown White Male. I just want LOVE.
Single White Female (title relation only), every zombie movie where someone wakes from a coma to find the world’s gone to shit, Jackie Chan’s Who Am I?,
What’s Good About It?
Liam Neeson kinda rocks. And by kinda I mean totally. Except for Clash of the Titans. The film looks to be a cool European style thriller, and the cast has enough talent to pull it off.
What’s Bad About It?
I worry about January Jones. I love her on Mad Men and she’s gorgeous, but I’ve seen her act a few times, and her line delivery is a little stiff. It works as a desperate 60’s housewife on Mad Men, but I don’t know if she’ll do this well. Of course, she’s playing a wife who’s probably caught up in the conspiracy, so it may be fine.
Our Clever Prediction
I see a good box office for Unknown White Male. I haven’t seen a budget for it yet, but I doubt it’s all that high, so expectations won’t be unreasonable, and there aren’t enough good thrillers these days. I hopeful for a little Hitchcock magic.
