So I watched the last episode of Prison Break on Friday, and I’m incredibly disappointed with how this series ended. Not just this final episode of Prison Break, but the last three seasons have been an awful collection of ideas by writers who appear to have given up on this series by season 3.
I rarely get hooked on tv shows, but after watching season 1, I was a fan. I liked the characters, the plot was interesting and the suspense was better than average.
Season 2 was interesting, because we finally get to see the crew out of prison, on the run. The soap opera aspect of the series started leaking through, we learn about ‘The Company’ and how this entire series is being pulled together.
Season 3 was pathetic. Locked up in SONA, a pathetic prison outside of Panama, Michael, T-bag, Mahone all become part of a team to escape yet another facility. The Company sends in super-bitch ‘Gretchen’ to make Michael break out ‘Whistler’ who holds the key to ‘Scylla’. During their time in SONA, they make a couple new friends, and we learn of the end result of throwing down a chicken claw in the dirt.
Season 4 was a complete bore, with the crew chasing down the missing pieces to Scylla with the help/hindurance of Don Self and Gretchen. We get to know the ‘General’ , an real prick of a man who we never get to know much about in the end.
Season 5 is really Season 4 split into two parts for more money. We get to meet Michael’s mom, who tells him Lincoln was adopted, she ends up paying for this with her life in the end. Sara gets pregnant, they take down the company, give Sylla to the UN and everyone is happy…. sort of.
The Final Episode
So we waited 4 years for this? They made this a family reunions, saved it all for the last episode. C-Note and Sucre make a return, so does a few old characters who we never really cared about. We never ever learn about the truth behind The Company, Michael’s mom or much else. Did I mention Michaels dies in the season finale? Not that I really cared that much, but it never gave me the shock value I think they were expecting.
All in all, Prison Break was a mostly fun ride the first two years, and a confusing yet mostly dull production the last 2. If the series had the same effort it did in the beginning, I’d be really sad about the ending, as it is I really could care less.
Good bye Prison Break, thanks for the first couple of seasons, and good riddance for the last two you threw on us fans.

They fast forwarded 4 years later, showed us Michael’s grave..but all the vehicles were 2009..his tombstone said 2005! How did he die in 2005 if he was driving a 2009 Escalade?
