Tom and Jerry (2011)

Tom and Jerry is a new animated film of the classic characters, with this version being a prequel that tells the story of how the cat and mouse met and became bitter rivals.

Tom and Jerry, or as I like to call them, the poor hungry cat who people laugh at as he starves, and the mouse who’s a jerk for trying to survive, meet in Chicago (whoo, Chitown baby!) and get lost, so they must learn to work together to make it home.

In lieu of a trailer, I give you…

The Scoop

The film is being written by Eric Gravning (no, that’s not a typo), and doesn’t have a director attached at present. There is a rumor going around that the film will be a mashup of live action and CGI, like the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie, but at present, this is unconfirmed. Gravning is a relative unknown at present, with a few films in production, but nothing released yet.

Look at my hopes soar.

Oh NO!! My hopes jumped! They just splattered on the ground. I guess I was wrong about the whole soaring thing.

Who’s It For?

G or PG.

Movie Release Date

2011? The film doesn’t look like it’s in production yet, so it could be a while.

Who’s In It?

I hope they totally change the concept of Tom and Jerry and give them big Hollywood actor’s voices. Because no one ever liked the classic version anyways.

Interesting Fact

Tom and Jerry is where I learned where babies come from. I don’t remember how, but at some point I clearly remember Tom catching Jerry and sexing him.

Related Movies

Alvin and the Chipmunks, Marmaduke, Garfield.

What’s Good About It?

Animated violence between a cat and mouse. Can’t go wrong.

What’s Bad About It?

To bad it isn’t Itchy and Scratchy. Then we’d get the R rated half live action, half CGI film we’ve all been waiting for.

Our Clever Prediction

If it’s released, I could see a lot of people checking it out for the nostalgia, but it’ll probably serve to ruin childhood memories more than excite people. If they scrap the live action idea and just make it fully animated I might actually like this.

  1. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I have absolutely no hope for this production, if actual (God, I hope not), being any good whatsoever. It’s not enough to attempt to ruin Garfield, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Scooby-Doo, (Well… okay, I must admit that I liked the first one they made) and the Smurfs, among countless others, but they have to ruin a classic that actually matters.

And, if you were serious about nobody liking the original cartoon, I’d like for you to make no back turns on your way to a blisteringly painful Hell when this earth is ever-so-thankfully rid of you, with the exception of your rotting corpse, being the only sign left of a completely wasted life. People like you make modern “art” a glorious pain and obvious devolution of society to behold… obvious, at least, to those of us able to think.

On the other hand… I agree, if this were an upcoming Itchy & Scratchy movie, I’d probably be numb with excitement… then again, Itchy & Scratchy with a feature-length storyline would be quite a task, so most of us would probably appreciate the effort, rather than the actual result…

  2. I mean.. Why… Tom and Jerry should be in the silent era. Where mindless violence could exist. We don’t need voice actors for them. Also really, If you don’t like Tom and Jerry that much don’t post in this preview. You can preview thousands of other films.
