The Way Back (2011)

The Way Back is loosely based on the events that occurred back in WW2, in a prisoner camp located in Siberia. Although the film has the talent to be a success, there is one huge problem.

The problem? The trailer for ‘The Way Back’ gives away the entire film, the guess work and leaves you wanting very little more. Just watching the trailer satisfies my need to see the film. Why did they do this? I have no interest now.

Set in World War II, the film tells the true story of a group of soldiers who escape from a Siberian gulag and journey across the harsh Asian terrain in order to reach British India. Hilarity ensues as they get shot at, freeze half to death, and even leave a loved one behind while they taste freedom and have sex with each other. Sounds like an Indian Reserve in northern Saskatchewan if you ask me.

Trailer

Pictures

Nope, and I probably wouldn’t post them anyways.

Movie Release Date

January 2011

Who’s In It?

Good old Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess and one-time respectable actor Colin Farrell, before he went batshit insane.

What’s Good About It?

Escaping from labor/death camps is always a good thing.

What’s Bad About It?

I saw everything I needed to know about The Way Back in the trailer and I am satisfied I don’t need to see anything else.

Our Clever Prediction

Looks horrible, uninviting and a blatant rip-off of The Great Escape.

  1. As a young child (I’m 50 now) I remember my father reading the book “The Long walk” over and over and always said to me over the years what a great movie this book would make. On seeing the trailer I would agree esp the scenery (being an adventure traveller myself). I am so gutted (along with my parents)they are not releasing it here in Palmerston North.

  2. I have owned the book for 40 years or more “The Long Walk” and have read it many times. Look forwards to seeing the film ” The Way Back “.

    • @Brian, Where is it, I couldn’t find it. Did you use your super-awesome seo skills so I couldn’t find it using the search?

      • @Armstrong Dicksmasher,

When I type in ‘the way back’ on the search, it comes up on the first page, both on the main starseeker website and on the wordpress admin thingy. I did it on oct 8.

I also wrote about Charlize theron being in The Dark Knight Rises the day before you did, but now that I know you stopped reading my stuff, I’m just going to put up all sorts of crap. Mostly videos of kitties.

        • ok, it didn’t work for me earlier, but I see it now. I read your stuff every day, you make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
