The Three Musketeers 3D (2011)

The Three Musketeers 3D is the latest version of the classic tale, only this time in… 3D!

Like in the many other versions of The Three Musketeers, in the 3D version D’Artagnan is a young man who wishes to become a Musketeer, who protect the Royal crown of France. He encounters the Three Musketeers, Athos, Porthos and Aramis, and becomes friends with them, while also going on to save the French crown, fall in love, and become the greatest of all the Musketeers.

The Scoop

The Three Musketeers 3D is being directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, who is directing the latest Resident Evil as well. Both films must be really good if he can get them out so quickly, since making a 3D film is usually more time consuming than a regular film. Two 3D films in under a year. Wow. I can not wait.

What’s Good About It?

I really like the Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo. Dumas was a great writer who deserves to have his books remade over and over again…

What’s Bad About It?

Just not by Paul W.S. Anderson. The guy makes the dumbest films out there. I don’t mind it with the Resident Evil films, since they’re supposed to be stupid, but The Three Musketeers should at least have a chance of being made well. It’s too bad, because it could have been cool.

Our Clever Prediction

I think the box office will be decent. Anderson can deliver a handful of nice looking shots for the trailer and commercials, even though he can’t make much of a film. I’m guessing that enough people will go out for The Three Musketeers 3D at the higher price to push the box office to respectable numbers, paving the way for Anderson to shoot 3 films in 3D in a year next!

  1. I have seen the new pictures and it looks really cool. I think it will be a great one. For one Matthew Macfadyen is in it and he never picks crappy projects. Everything he is in is high quality, like The Pillars of the Earth, recently shown by Starz, where he plays a 12th century monk. He is one of the most talented actors out there and if he is in this I’m confident it will be of good quality. Otherwise he wouldn’t have signed on. All for one, one for all!
