The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (2010)

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice takes us on a familiar journey, with Disney Pictures hooking up with Nicolas Cage in another adventure movie. This time around, Cage plays a sorcerer, who tries to save New York City from certain destruction.

A sorcerer leaves his workshop in the hands of his apprentice, who gets into trouble when the broomstick he’s tasked to do his chores for him somehow develops a mind of its own. Master sorcerer Balthazar Blake recruits a seemingly everyday guy in his mission to defend New York City from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath.

Interesting Fact

During the shooting of this movie, an accident occurred when a filming of car chase sequence went off beam. The filming accident, which caused two bystanders to suffer minor injuries, occurred Monday, May 4, shortly before 1 A.M. at the Sbarro at 47th Street and Seventh Avenue Street when one of the cars used in the chase sequence suddenly careened into a pizza parlor.

The Good

I like Nicolas Cage in his adventure roles, and Monica Bellucci is stunning as a lead actress. Also, Director Jon Turteltaub was behind the National Treasure movies, so he’s pretty solid.
