A drama centered on a rebellious girl who is sent to a Southern beach town for the summer to stay with her father. Through their mutual love of music, the estranged duo learn to reconnect.

The Last Song (2010)

Based on best-selling novelist Nicholas Sparks’ (“A Walk to Remember,” “The Notebook”) latest novel, “The Last Song” is set in a small Southern beach town where an estranged father (Greg Kinnear) gets a chance to spend the summer with his reluctant teenaged daughter (Miley Cyrus), who’d rather be home in New York. He tries to reconnect with her through the only thing they have in common—music—in a story of family, friendship, secrets and salvation, along with first loves and second chances.

The Good

The Last Song has a lot of great actors and actresses in it.

The Bad

Seen this plot too many times, and why does Miley Cyrus have to sing in every movie? She’s talented enough to bypass the singing for a movie, or two. I hope they don’t ruin her, like they did Olivia Newton John.

Our Clever Prediction

Miley Cyrus movies haven’t been that great at the box office, so it will be interesting to see if this one can make it.

  1. Thank you for your good comments about Miley. Have you seen the movie? Or just the trailer? I thought she doesn’t sing in this movie, though two of the backround songs from the movie soundtrack are hers. I’m also not sure what you mean by her movies not doing that great at the box office. Both of them broke records which still stand. My standard is that a movie is doing very well if it wins the weekend, so the top 52 movies of each year automatically get my respect. Not only was Miley’s last movie #40 domestically, it was #40 internationally, which means Miley is a worldwide box office draw. And the number of people in the world who can say that is also less than 52. Much less.
