Two girlfriends on a summer holiday in Spain, become enamored with the same painter, unaware that his ex-wife, with whom he has a tempestuous relationship, is about to re-enter the picture.
The Truth
Vicky Cristina Barcelona is the chick movie, to end all chick movies, but this isn’t a bad thing. Being the men of all men, I found myself quite enjoying the film even getting choked up a bit… but only for a moment.
Scarlett Johansson is splendid as Cristina, I hope she stays in this type of a dramatic roll. She’s decent in a drama/romance but I can’t seem to tolerate her in action/thriller roles.
Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz also were quite good in the film, it was really nice to see Javier in a role, when he isn’t playing a badass, such as No Country For Old Men when he played Anton Chigurh.
The Laughs
A few good chuckles here and there.
What’s good about it?
Scarlett Johansson and Penelpe Cruz together in a film, how much more eye candy do you want?
What’s bad about it?
Not much, this was one of the better Comedy/Romance/Drama’s I have seen in years.
You’ll Like It If
If you need to bring out your emotional side (and lets face it gentlemen, we do) than this is a solid film to watch with your chick.
The Verdict
Vicky Cristina Barcelona is a decent film, better than my original expectations. Rent if for the ladies, you can’t miss.
