To suggest we were excited heading into the theater is an understatement. Armed with 50$, twin boys aged 4 and their mother, I was ready for battle. I am a fan of Pixar, their movies and so are my family. We own every Pixar movie ever made, even purchased the Blu-ray editions of all their films just for good measure.
Anyways, We headed into Up! with nothing but the highest expectations. There hasn’t been a lot of hype for this film, not compared to other animations recently so although I was certain we would be impressed with the film, I was a little worried.
The Scoop
Deciding it’s better late than never, a retired balloon salesman uses his entire balloon inventory and takes to the skies.
But he soon discovers there’s a stowaway hiding in his South America-bound home in the form of Russell, a persistent eight-year-old boy scout.
The Truth
Up! was a wonderful, uplifting and amazing animation that took our entire family on a humorous journey for 90 minutes. I watched my little boys’ eyes stare with amazement at this incredible animation, that puts most others to shame. Although it was the first Pixar animation to get a PG rating, I found it appropriate for all ages and am confused at this rating. The film is fine for all children 4 and up.
The Action
Up! moves along at a very swift pace, with lots of action for children of all ages, and even us adults.
The Animation
I found the animation in UP! to be the best yet, putting films like Monsters VS Aliens to shame. Its as good, if not better, than Ratitouille and Cars.
What’s good about it?
There’s a message in the film, that I think is important for children and adults. Its about living your dream, no matter how silly or difficult it may seem. Its about believing in your dreams, and seeing them through.
I like positive movies for the kids, I think Up! has a lot of positive messages that we can all learn from.
What’s bad about it?
Nothing.
You’ll Like It If
All Pixar fans will love it, as will your kids.
The Verdict
Up! is perhaps the best movie I have watched thus far this year, and one of the top three animations Pixar has ever released. Do not miss it.
