In ‘The Wolfman’ Benicio Del Toro is in search for his brother’s killer, only to find out there is much more to the mystery than he could have ever imagined. Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot, a successful theater actor, who has had a troubled life he thought he left behind. When he returns home and finds his brothers’s body has been mutililated, he grows weary of the official events that are written off as the cause.
The Truth
The Wolfman was boring, predictable and I was emotionally uninterested. An impressive feat for a film that featured such great talent. How could you possible lose the audience with this much power behind the lines? Well, it starts by the terrible writing and odd cinematography. The entire movie is shotin near pitch black conditions, where you feel damn lousy just watching this production.
How do we get attached to a lead character that is an asshole? You don’t. There isn’t a character here to get attached to at all come to think of it. Anthony Hopkins is also an asshole, Lawrence Talbot’s sister in law is a whore, and The Wolfman is a complete prick. The final battle between the two ‘wolfmen’ is hilarious, as is the pathetic wolf howl’s we are bombarded with throughout the film. Hey, we get it…. they are half wolf..half men… stop making them howl all the time it is really fucking annoying.
So back to the film, Del Toro turns into a wolf… grows superpowers and ninja skills for some reason… and takes out his anger on anyone in his path. In the end, his sister-in-law goes gangsta on him, lays him out with a .38 to the tits, and it’s all over Johnny.
The Laughs
The final battle between father and son Wolfman…is epic in it’s stupidity.
Why should I watch it?
You shouldn’t, this show blew.
What’s Good About It?
Nothing
What’s bad about it?
Everything. The Wolfman is a pile of shit.
What I learned
A grieving widow is an easy target for love.
The Verdict
The Wolfman sucked, sucked hard. Del Toro is far too good of an actor to be remembered for this film.
