An angry, unstable lesbian, full of hatred for everyone in NY, goes on a killing spree. When her one true love discovers she no longer wants to be with women, Jodie Foster is driven over the edge and takes her revenge on every unsuspecting man she can find.
Ok, I made that up, but it would have been more interesting than this snoozer of a film I had a chance of watching last night.
The Plot : A woman {Jodie Foster} struggles to recover from a brutal attack by setting out on a mission for revenge.
The Truth : 50 minutes will pass by and you’ll awaken to discover you haven’t missed anything at all.
The Action : Its there, somewhere, hidden amongst dull dialogue and predictable events.
Favorite Scenes : None. This movie stunk.
The Verdict : I’ve given up on Jodie Foster. Her previous movies were incredibly bad, she’s followed those up perfectly with this stinker. Terrence Howard {Crash, Hustle and Flow} overacts his way into a forgetful performance and Nicky Katt {Boiler Room, Boston Public} spits out overused cliches like a fat kid with a box of smarties.

The diminutive Jodie Foster takes on a surprise roll as a pistol-packing vigilante in The Brave One. This is a departure from Foster’s signature psychological thrillers, but is completely in line with her ability as a versatile actress. In The Brave One she portrays Erica Bain, an off-beat radio talk-show host in New York City. Erica is completely besotted with her fiancé David Kirmani (Naveen Andrews), and he by her, and nothing else in the world matters more to them than each other. One fateful night the couple runs into some unexpected trouble in the park. The event changes Erica’s life forever. She emerges from her harrowing ordeal a different person; something inside of her dies and she assumes another persona. Revenge is her mantra and she will stop at nothing to seek street justice.Terrence Howard plays the tough, but fair, Detective Mercer. Together Erica Bain and Detective Mercer strive towards justice from opposite ends. This heart-wrenching action thriller is delivered at a furious pace. Foster and Howard certainly pack a punch in this hard-hitting thriller.
