Well we have waited almost six years for this newest edititon to The Terminator series, during this time we have had to put up with a lot of bad characters, a female Terminator, the death of Arnold and much more. So just what the heck is the reason for even making another entry into this film?

I’m really interested to see what others thought of this movie, because for me it was nothing spectacular at all, and in the end I found it quite disappointing. So without any further blabbing, here is my official review for Terminator Salvation.

Termintaor Salvation Review

After Skynet has destroyed much of humanity in a nuclear holocaust, a group of survivors led by John Connor struggles to keep the machines from finishing the job.

Christian Bale is admirable as John Connor and I felt
Sam Worthington was perfect as Marcus, a next generation Terminator who is here to help the resistance, although it backfires.

Terminator Salvation is pretty easy to follow, even if you haven’t seen the previous ones. In reality, the 1st two Terminator movies are the only ones worth seeing, so skip T3 Rise Of The Machines altogether.

Back to the film … Terminator Salvation was pretty intense and fun, with pretty jaw-dropping visuals. The enormous Terminators were cool, made me wish they could have battled the Transformers, and who would win?

The Action

The film has lots of action, no complaints here at all. I wish the action took place in the daylight a little more, I can’t stand it when the action and effects are covered up in a dark environment for the entire film.

The Effects

I thought all these years would have been more kind to the Terminator, but instead it was more of the same. This franchise used to be knows for its ground-breaking special effects and memorable scenes, Salvation hasn’t many of those moments. Yes, the effects are good, but we are so spoiled with great production value, I guess I was left a little disappointed.

Maybe the Transformer movies have spoiled us a little too much? I expected more amazing effects from the Terminator Salvation movie, considering what it has delivered to us in the past.

What’s good about it?

Christian Bale is a wicked John Connor, Sam Worthington is great… and I enjoyed the pace the movie moved along at.

The story was easy to follow, and the Terminators were scary and mean as hell. Yeah, the cool Arnold cameo at the end was pretty kick-ass as well.

What’s bad Terminator Salvation?

Too much action at night and dimly lit environments. I loved it when the action was outside in the day, hated it when it was in a dark environment. I want to see the Terminators, not have them hidden.

You’ll Like Terminator Salvation If

Die Hard Terminator fans will like it, those new to the Terminator series will probably be hooked.

The Verdict

Terminator Salvation was a fun movie, at par with the previous films. The DVD had lots of extra features I enjoyed as well. Rent it, you’ll enjoy Terminator Salvation even if you are new to the series. If I had to rate the film with the other ones in the series, I would rate this the third best Terminator film.

Nothing can beat the original Terminator, and I found T2 better for the groundbreaking effects and destruction.

I’m looking forward to Terminator 5!
