Liam Neeson stars as Bryan Mills, a former Spy who loses his daughter in a kidnapping.
The Truth
Taken is a rock solid action film, with a really entertaining story. Sure, we’ve all seen the story before, but Liam Neeson adds a lot of maturity, and validity to the role of the father figure in desperate needs to find his daughter.
Neeson plays the role of retired secret service agent Bryan Mills, who has retired from his stressful job to be closer to his daughter Kim {Maggie Grace}. When ex-wife Lenore {Famke Janssen} begs Bryan to let their daughter go to Paris for the summer, the plot unravels pretty quickly.
Kim and her girlfriend end up in Paris alone, without the supervision they were supposed to have, and quickly end up kidnapped by a local con artist. Statistically , Bryan Mills has 96 hours to find the girls or they typically end up dead, or gone forever.
With the help of a few friends in the industry, and his years of skills, Bryan heads to Paris to find his daughter, and seek revenge for the pain caused to him and his family.
The Action
Surprisingly good. Neeson pulls off the role of deadly agent Bryan Mills really well, and the fight scenes are really good. A few decent car chase scenes and lots of gun fights.
The Laughs
Uh, no laughs in this one.
What’s good about Taken?
- Famke Janssen, Liam Neeson and Maggie Grace all do a really good job of bringing the characters to life. Maggie Grace is stunning, a real beauty.
- Boobies : decent amount of nakedness in the film
- Car chases, knife fights, gun fights, asskicking
What’s bad about it?
- They did add a little too much flare to Liam Neeson’s character and his abilities.. he reminds me of an older Jason Bourne, kicking ass on everyone he wants. I dunno, you just accept this after awhile an move on.
- The started to make Bryan Mills into a superhero, its a hollywood thing.
You’ll Like It If
If you liked Ransom, Jason Bourne… those type of shows..you’ll love Taken. Take is a really fast paced movie that holds your interest till the end.
Reminds me of
Ransom
The Verdict
Taken is a kick ass movie, who knew Liam Neeson could pull off the role of asskicking, tough guy?
