SiCko – The Review

Its interesting to me, knowing that documentries can receive so much attention these days. Its a good sign knowing that we, as a culture, do pay attention to movies that aren’t just about explosions and unfunny comic leading men. When Michael Moore’s newest DVD arrived for review, I was excited. I’ve watched Moore debate this issue since the movie was released, I’ve always supported his view on this idea. SiCKO is thought provoking, its entertaining and controversial.

Perhaps thats why I enjoyed the SiCKO DVD so much. I’m not sure how I feel about Michael Moore. I agree with a lot of his ideas and thoughts, but I disagree on a large number as well. Thats why I was more interested in seeing his take on the healthcare system in the US, because I’m not a fan of it.

Being someone who has lived in both the US and Canada, maybe this movie hit home for me. I don’t care for the US medical system, it frightens me, it always will. Moore brings up a very good case for a socialized healthy care, I’m a big believer in it as well.

Moore takes a gentler, bi-partisan approach to inform, inspire and touch the hearts of his audience to call for a systematic change of action. With heart-wrenching and empathy-provoking testimonies from both patients and former insurance company employees, SiCKO depicts the frustrations and difficulties of the inability to obtain treatment and life-saving care when desperately needed due to the inevitabilities of a for-profit healthcare system.

I highly recommend the movie, even if you don’t share Moore’s point of view.
