Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott star in Role Models as Danny and Wheeler, two salesmen who trash a company truck on an energy drink-fueled bender. Upon their arrest, the court gives them a choice: do hard time or spend 150 service hours with a mentorship program. After one day with the kids, however, jail doesn’t look half bad.
The Truth
Role Models started out really well, with a good finger sniffing to get the ball rolling. Rudd and Scott worked well enough together to get the laughs rolling early, and often. However, half hour into the film the entire plot hits a wall and dies a slow death till the last half hour.
The premise was decent enough, I could accept it and I found it amusing. However, they ran out of gags and situations early and Rudd really struggled to hold down the character with any interest.
Role Models is The Ringer with kids instead of special olympians.
The Action
Not enough to save the film.
The Laughs
Original at first, lame by the end.
What’s good about it?
The first 1/2 hour
What’s bad about it?
The last hour
You’ll Like It If
If you are really bored.
Reminds me of
The Ringer
The Verdict
Role Models could have been a classic, instead it laughs fizzled out early on in the film and it became far too predicable and ordinary.
