In the famous words of George Michael, “wake me up before you go go.” Thats how I felt halfway through this apparent blockbuster that was supposed to keep me on the edge of my seat.
Really lame comebacks and a weaker plot, had me snoring 35 minutes into the film. Bruce Willis apparently has super human abilities, there’s no other explanation for his inability to walk away from explosions and hang from tall buildings while having a fist fight.
Maybe this is who we are. Maybe we are all idiots, expected to enjoy a dumbed down version of Die Hard 3. Maybe Hollywood makes movies for exactly who they think they know. The movie did phenomenal numbers at the box-office.
Maybe I’m just supposed to accept the fact that Willis can be dangerously wounded from a punch to the head, but he can fight off an enemy in an elevator shaft, while hanging from one arm. The man can launch his car, with precision, at an attacking helicopter and destroy it, but he cannot remember to bring enough ammunition when he’s at work.
It wasn’t long ago Bruce Willis spoke out about the violence in Hollywood, and how he was against it. After his career dried up, he dropped his morals. Money is more important than your own personal agenda, after all. Its not that I dislike Bruce Willis, its just that I can’t relate to this movie in any way, shape or form.
I’m a big fan of action movies, just don’t serve it to me on an idiot plate.
Live Free or Die Hard was a pathetic attempt to deliver a movie with any amount of substance or originality. I hate them for ruining this franchise.

Starring: Bruce Willis, Yancey Arias and Justin Long20th Century Fox Distribution has brought back veteran cop John McClane for a final encore. Fans of the Die Hard series will relish the prospect of Bruce Willis in his signature role. This is the series that catapulted the largely comedic and loveable Willis into the spotlight . Prior to the Die Hard series, Willis enjoyed films and series along the lines of Blind Date and Moonlighting.John McClane is the quintessential New York City detective: tough, unrefined and rugged. He is the cop that rubs his department and everyone else the wrong way. From one-line catchphrases to out-of-this-world stunts, McClane is the modern-day super cop. His gut feel and determination always win out against the villains – this time however he meets a formidable foe. Films in the Die Hard series have maintained exceptional quality and provided unparalleled entertainment value. This one is no different – it’s high tech; riveting and makes for sensational viewing.Live free or die hard is the film event of the South African winter. This film goes big on stunts, big on entertainment and big on action. The story is predicated along the lines of the following: It’s the 4th July and a deadly terrorist attack on American infrastructure is about to take place. The United States is placed on high-alert. The terrorist mastermind behind the initiative is a wily and devious character. But that’s no match for Lieutenant John McClane. This film goes overboard on hi-tech stunts and big action sequences. But in today’s age of CGI and other related digital effects – it’s imperative that the Die Hard series follow suit. It’s every Willis fan’s dream come true. Explosions, mayhem and sheer carnage abound in this version of the film. When the terrorist organisation goes hi-tech it is up to the simple minded McClane to unravel the mystery and break the impasse. The film has opened to overwhelmingly positive reviews and that has been followed by huge box-office takings so far. It is clear that Bruce Willis still has what it takes to rock audiences across the planet.Big points on this film!
