Ok so , I have to be honest when I say I wasn’t really looking forward to this film. I’ve had enough Will Ferrell to fill my quota this year, I’m still recovering from Step Brothers. (By the way, if you enjoyed that pile of crap film, we have nothing in common). So, anyways, Land Of The Lost hit the big screen today with less than a stellar amount of hype, and thats for good reason. This movie sucked, and had no business being made into a motion picture.
Here’s a little hint : The oririginal TV Series wasn’t really any good. The only reason I, and a few other loser kids from the 70’s watched it, was because the effects were pretty good for its day, but downright brutal if you were to look back on it now. Take away the effects, and Land Of The Lost was a terrible TV show.
Back to our review …. so in typical Will Ferrell fashion, we have to endure him playing that same old character again.. the loveable dork who screams an awful lot, is often confused and gets himself in awkward situations. You know, that same character he plays in every film? Well, he and his better half, played by Anna Friel, get trapped in the alternate universe, and well.. they get in a few situations that are supposed to make you laugh and giggle.
It doesn’t work though, maybe its because we are so used to Will Ferrell playing this role? The film is rather slow, and the story really drags on.
The Action and Effects
Terrible and blah. Watch the trailer, you’ll see most of the action the film delivers. The effects? Lame and low budget.
The Verdict
Land Of The Lost will be liked by a small percentage of the audience, perhaps kids 9-13 yrs old. If you have to sit through this with your kids, its painful and uneventful.
Oh, and there is no way in hell a babe Anna Friel would ever hook up with a A forest ranger like Dr. Rick Marshall.
A disappointing film, that had no chance from the beginning.

Saw the movie tonight, and I agree it was horrible. Ferrell’s character is the same in ever damn film, and I lost the attraction to any character he plays.
Its funny, I’m bashing a guy who earns millions per year, here I am critiquing one of the most sought after comics in Hollywood. I earn jack shit for a living, yet I can dish out my thoughts on why a millionaire sucks at his job.
Regardless, I think its more of a knock on the casting and not Will Ferrel himself, because he looks like a genuinely funny guy even away from the movie set.
Sure, I’ve been drinking tonight, I’m actually quite drunk right now. Maybe the wine is starting to hit more more than normal, because I’m getting lucky in a bout 15 minutes, and I thought I’d write a movie review before the wife gets out of the shower, and we do the nasty.
Back to Land of the Lost, while I suck back this last glass of Rigamarole white wine…I still don’t understand the reason behind making this film. They aren’t remaking The Fall Guy, a film about as successful as Land Of The Lost, so why this film? It didn’t need to be made into a feature film, the original did indeed suck a big fat one.
One more thing, why does an ugly lead like Will Ferrell always get a babe for a wife in his movies? Is it in his contract?

Yea well things happen and next thing you know you wish the movie was more like the trailer you saw a few weeks ago.
