Casting for X-Men: Days of Future Past and Kick-Ass 2, posters for 300: Rise of an Empire and To The Wonder, and pics from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire!
X-Men: Days of Future Past has cast Omar Sy in an unnamed role. Rumors are going around that he might play Bishop, who, though he was not part of the Days of Future Past comic book storyline, is an X-Men character who traveled back in time, so there’s some possibility that Sy will be playing him. Bishop’s powers are to absorb and redistribute energy, so if you hit him, he can absorb the kinetic energy, then if he hits you back all that power comes back your way. Kevin Bacon’s Sebastian Shaw character in First Class was basically the same thing. There’s still potential to do more with the power though.
There’s also confirmation that Halle Berry will be reprising her role as Storm, aka Ororo Monroe, in the next film. Sounds good. If they’re going to bring back everyone else, it’s good to see they’re bringing Halle back as well. I imagine most of the stars have to be taking very low paydays, or this film has a billion dollar budget.
Kick-Ass 2 has announced that Morris Chestnut will be playing the role of Marcus Williams, who is the guardian of Hit-Girl. SPOILERS NOW: This is necessary because Nic Cage’s character, who was Hit-Girl’s dad in the first film, died.
300: Rise of an Empire has been largely flying under the radar, with just the usual casting news for a while, but it is supposed to come out sometime this year (currently August 2, though fierce competition for that weekend might cause a change). Today we have a poster for the comic book sequel, which tells a story that runs parallel to the events of 300. It looks like they’ve mostly kept true to the graphics of the first film. And there will be rain. Probably in slow motion.
To The Wonder has a new poster that looks a bit like a book, with the fold in the middle. I’m not sure if that’s the intention, but that’s what it looks like to me. It does look like a realistic love pose though, with Olga Kurylenko’s hair not perfectly in place like most overly photoshopped posters. I like it.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has a new photo that director Marc Webb teased today. It’s apparently part of a stunt from the new film. Apparently someone flips a car over onto another one. Probably a bad guy.
Unless Spider-Man takes a turn for the evil in the new film.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has a new portrait of Effie Trinket. I guess these are like flyers in the film, and will help promote the victory tour of the champions from the first film. It doesn’t look half bad.
