New pics for The Hobbit, The Avengers, The Expendables 2, and Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, trailers for Casa de mi Padre and The Lady, and I finally clear the air about Canada.
In today’s new Hobbit pic, we see the central Hobbit, Bilbo, with a sword, looking dirty, and he probably just killed a spider. It’s been a while since I read the book, so I don’t remember much outside of Gollum and Smaug, but I see spiderwebs in the background, and he has a sword, so he either killed a spider or is the Green Goblin and finally defeated Spider-Man.
Not only is there a new pic from The Avengers featuring Captain America, but there’s also a bit of news from director Joss Whedon concerning the focus of the film, and it relates to the pic!
“I set out with a very simple problem: There is no reason for these people to be in the same movie. So that’s what my movie has to be about,”
“So much of [The Avengers] story takes place from Steve Rogers’ perspective, since he’s the guy who just woke up and sees this weird-ass world. Everyone else has been living in it. He’s the guy that feels that sense of loss.”
“[The Avengers] is very much about people who are alone – because I’m writing it,”
“[Captain America] is kind of the ultimate loner in that way. There is an anachronism to him, and Chris and I have always tried to make it, without making it goofy or too obvious, always tried to make him that same grounded ’40s Steve Rogers he was in the other movie.”
The Expendables 2 has a good looking lady in it (who’da thunk?) named Yu Nan. In the first pic I think, “Oh, she’s a damsel in distress,” but then in the second pic I think, “Oh, she’s tough and self-assured and confident and can kick ass.”
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter has a new pic up, and I have to admit that Benjamin Walker looks a lot like ol’ Honest Abe. A creepy prosthetic face one, but still, he looks like Lincoln.
Oh, and I’m guessing the vampires kill his stupid butt, as he has an axe, and EVERYONE KNOWS YOU NEED A STAKE.
Casa de mi Padre has a new trailer, and the one thing I’ll say for it is that it appears that star Will Ferrell had a lot of fun making it. I doubt my experience watching it will be the same, but as long as HE had fun, it’s cool.
You know who is MORE badass than The Lady? The IRON Lady.
Or not. I’m not really up on politics. Anyways, The Lady is a very serious film about Aung San Suu Kyi, a Burmese leader who fought for democracy. I feel like she must’ve failed, as I saw John Rambo, and he was fighting bad guys in Burma. So… Good Movie!
Oh, and Luc Besson is the director. He made the Fifth Element and such cinematic gems as Bandidas, Taken, The Transporter and Taxi. He’s the guy I’D pick for a serious historical film about oppression, courage and democracy. Definitely.
I wanted to tell you all about how I feel regarding Canada.
