Casting for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, a poster and trailer for Stoker, a featurette for Rise of the Guardians, a film clip for Twilight, a new director board X-Men: Days of Future Past, and there’s news of a new Star Wars?
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Captain America: The Winter Soldier has cast a new villain, and they’re bringing back some old allies. Baddies first: it seems Frank Grillo will be playing Crossbones in the film. Basically he’s a mercenary/hit man. So… good.
The allies that Cap will have by his side are returning from The Avengers, and this makes sense, as Cap is most closely tied to SHIELD, and he doesn’t really have any supporting characters in the present day. So Sam Jackson will be playing Nick Fury, Scarlett Johansson will play Black Widow, and Cobie Smulders will be playing Maria Hill.
The last guy who was just confirmed to be back is Sebastian Stan. He played Bucky Barnes in the first film, and as Bucky becomes the Winter Soldier in the comics, and therefore presumably in the film, he was an obvious person to bring back.
Stoker
Stoker has a really weird, and also insanely cool trailer. I don’t really know what to say about it. It’s cool. It doesn’t tell you much about the film, but then I’m not entirely sure what the plot is myself. Mia Wasikowska plays a young woman whose father recently died, and while she’s coping with that her uncle, who is either a serial killer or an assassin, comes to stay. And her mom, played by Nicole Kidman, is sorta a bitch. Otherwise it’s just really weird and possibly cool.
It’s the same director as Old Boy though, and that was the shit.

Rise of the Guardians
Rise of the Guardians has a new featurette that focuses on The Easter Bunny. This film just keeps looking better and better.
What’s that? It’s not Pixar? Oh. Never mind.
Twilight: Wow She’s Not Human Anymore
Twilight: Wow She’s Not Human Anymore Part 2 has a new film clip where Bella, played by phenomenal actress, NAY thespian, Kristen Stewart, has to learn to act human. Cause she’s a vampire, and can move super fast and doesn’t breathe.
I do that stuff and girls don’t swoon over me! This sucks.
X-Men: Days of Future Past
It was a pretty big shocker recently to hear that Matthew Vaughn, who directed X-Men: First Class, wouldn’t be returning for the sequel, but today’s news is a lot better. Bryan Singer, the director of the first two X-Men films, which are arguably the best (I think First Class was good, but it failed at times in my opinion because of the lack of time they gave Vaughn to finish), will be returning to the director’s chair. This is really good news. I loved Singer’s X-Men films, and he’s a fantastic all around director, with films like The Usual Suspects and Valkyrie to his credit, so I expect very good things.
I’ll just forget his work on Superman Returns for the time being.
Star Wars
So arguably the biggest news of the day, and certainly the most surprising, is that Disney has acquired LucasArts, and will be making another Star Wars film to be released in 2015. This is pretty shocking stuff, but Disney will be keeping Lucas around to be a creative consultant, so this new film, and the other Star Wars films they’ve already said they hope to make, will be authorized. I’m happy about this. I like Star Wars, but they’re not important to me in the same way they’re important to some who are super die hard fans. I think if they get a new director in charge who can breathe new life into the world it’ll do them a lot of good. Look at Harry Potter. Just do that. Go darker, and it’ll be cool.
