Captain America

I’m going to lead with the biggest fumble of the night. Captain America finally has a commercial. The first ever footage of the film is out there, and it is remarkably… boring. Seriously, who decided that Chris Evans should play Captain America? Why not cast Magnum PI? Just as stupid. But at least Magnum can grow an awesome mustache. This film will be terrible. Not an opinion. I didn’t say, “I THINK this film will be terrible.” I said it WILL be terrible.

Super 8

I have to be honest, I didn’t know what to think of J.J. Abrams’ Super 8, but after the trailer that aired during the Superbowl, I think it might be really cool. It definitely has an ET types of feel, which is no doubt the intent, as Steven Spielberg is producing, but it looks better than I had originally figured. I’ve gotten a bit tired by the whole secrecy thing that Abrams is so known for, but the film does look really cool. I like the time period stuff, and the super powered menace stuff is neato. What? Neato is a perfectly valid word if you’re talking about the past. The train stuff is a little too Michael Bay for me, and I think it shows the limitations of Abrams, but Super 8 could be a classic just waiting to happen.

The Hobbit

Just to break up the post, as there are a billion different commercials and so little actual news, it has been confirmed that The Hobbit will start shooting on March 21, 2011. The MANY setbacks the film has faced seem to have ended, knock on wood, and so it HAS BEGUN. Sorry, I’m just such a Mortal Combat fan. I have one thing to add, and that is, “Good luck, Mr. Jackson.”

I said the same thing two days before Michael Jackson died, and look how that turned out. Wait. Huh?

Thor

Do you like your Thor with a side of King Arthur? Cause that’s what this commercial for the thunder god is giving you. Still, it looks infinitely better than Captain America.

Pirates of the Caribbean

The extended commercial for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is online, and it looks good. I don’t really know what else to say. It’s Captain Jack! How could you go wrong?

Transformers

Robots in disguise? More like robots blowing crap up in slow motion with swords. On a side note, why does a robot use a sword? Anyways, heres the Superbowl spot for Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
