Trailers for Oblivion and Trance, casting for X-Men: Days of Future Past and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, a behind the scenes featurette for Oz the Great and Powerful and a poster for Iron Man 3!
Oblivion has a new, fairly long trailer, and I feel like they’re giving quite a bit away about the film. Obviously there’s something going deeper in the film, like Tom Cruise’s Jack is in a dream or something, but I’d rather not know that until I see the film. They’re giving away too much.
Trance has a new trailer that’s pretty damn cool if you ask me. It’s also super intense. I think they use a razor blade to start slicing off James McAvoy’s fingers. Ouch. I mean, I’d do that to a bad person, but not James McAvoy! He’s Professor X! COME ON! I think Rosario Dawson is doing a really good job, and there’s quite a freaky ass twist toward the end that made me go, “WHOA.” And I’m not even Keanu Reeves. Think about THAT for a New York minute.
X-Men: Days of Future Past
OMG OMG OMG. X-Men: Days of Future Past has cast Tyrion FUCKING LANNISTER. I mean Peter Dinklage, but whatEVER. It’s Tyrion! There’s no official word on who he’ll play just yet, but a lot of people are thinking Puck, since Puck is a little person as is Peter Dinklage, and he’d be really good as anything. I’d pay to see Peter Dinklage as Wolverine. Or Andre the Giant. He’s that fucking awesome.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
A tiny bit of casting news today for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, as Haley Atwell, who played Peggy Carter in the first Captain America film, will be reprising her role for a small cameo in the sequel. Most likely it’ll be a flashback, unless they put her in some heavy makeup to play an old Peggy. I’m actually really glad to hear this, as it means Steve Rogers will be doing a bit more to deal with being a man out of time than he did in The Avengers. They mostly hinted at that side of his story in The Avengers, and I want it fleshed out.
Fun fact: when I wrote fleshed out above I originally wrote flushed out. That woulda been weird.
Oz the Great and Powerful
Oz the Great and Powerful has released a little look behind the curtain (BOOYAH!! OMG I’M AWESOME) that shows how Sam Raimi conceived of the world as director and how the set designers and more worked really hard to make a fully magical world come to live. It’s actually quite cool. I’m more excited day after day.
Iron Man 3
Iron Man 3 has released a new image of Don Cheadle as War Machine/The Iron Patriot. I get how this fits into the film and all, but as a fan of the comics I’m not the biggest fan of including the Iron Patriot design in the film. I like the more badass look of War Machine. Still, Don Cheadle is a badass so this is cool.
