A TV spot for Dredd, film clips for The Master and The Avengers, casting for Kick-Ass 2, Dark Tower studio news, pics from Fast and Furious 6 and a trailer for Lawless.
Dredd
Dredd has a new TV spot that gives you the basics of the story: there’s a big, wild city and just one thing standing between chaos and order – Judges. And Judge Dredd is the frickin’ law. I love how simple they’ve made the story. When you’re introducing a whole new world, it can be challenging to not get bogged down in details. Add details to stories set in our world. Keep Judge Dredd’s world violent and simple.
The Master
The Master has lost its ship. That is all.
Carry on.
The Avengers
The Avengers has a blooper and an extended film clip. My favorite blooper is of Captain America putting on his parachute.
Just kidding. It’s of Cobie Smulders talking about avengin’ stuff. I like that.
Kick-Ass 2
Apparently Kick-Ass 2 may be getting closer to casting their Colonel Stars. Jim Carrey has talked before about how much he enjoyed the original Kick-Ass, and he might be willing to take the role.
The basic idea for the second film is that after Kick-Ass inspired people to action in the first film there’s a team of heroes that band together like The Avengers. Colonel Stars is the leader of this team. All the heroes are sorta idiots though, so they’re like the ‘real life superheroes’ you sometimes hear about on TV, in that they dress up in costumes and call the cops a lot. But then shit gets real.
There’s also a possibility that Lindy Booth will be playing another hero in the super team, as she might be Night Bitch. She’s hot. That’d work. WORD.
The Dark Tower
Well, it appears we’re never going to get our multi-film and TV series adaptation of The Dark Tower. Ron Howard’s insanely ambitious project will not be happening at Warner Bros. In addition to Universal, that’s two major studios that have passed on the project. No doubt it was expensive as hell to get off the ground. Too much commitment for a story that is not, in the end, as good as Lord of the Rings and doesn’t involve superheroes.
I don’t think we’ll ever get this adaptation. Maybe a far less ambitious version.
HOLY CRAP. Just as I was writing this there was even MORE news for The Dark Tower. Did Warner Bros. Turn it down? Yeah, but Media Rights Capital is now expressing serious interest in the project. WTF? This film has nine freaking lives!!! This is just talks, but it’s still good news!!!
Fast and Furious 6
Fast and Furious 6 has a new behind the scenes pic up today and I’ve discerned what’s going on in the story at this point. Vin Diesel’s and Paul Walker’s characters have finally realized they don’t like cars as much as they like wieners.
Fun fact: wieners are not as fun as cars for heterosexual men. The more you know. Right?
Lawless
Lawless has a new trailer, this time a red band one, so if you’re young don’t watch. I wouldn’t want to corrupt your mind. That’s a job for Canadians.
I do like the new trailer though. It’s hella violent, and that’s a welcome change of pace for the film, which I’ve viewed as sorta lightweight up until this point. Tom Hardy looks especially intense in this. It could be good.
