Movie news for The Help, X-Men, Green Lantern, The Hunger Games, and more

Loads of casting news today. The Great Gatsby, The Hunger Games, The Dark Knight Rises all have some new peeps. Also trailers for Bridesmaids and The Help. Finally, pics and posters for X-Men and Green Lantern.

The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby, directed by Baz Luhrmann and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, and Carey Mulligan, is reportedly close to adding Isla Fisher in the role of Myrtle Wilson, who is having an affair with Tom Buchanan, who may be played by Ben Affleck. I’m actually about to reread The Great Gatsby, so I can tell you in a few days if this casting is good or not. I like everybody else so far, so Isla might be perfect. She is cute.

The Hunger Games

Now that Jennifer Lawrence is set for The Hunger Games, the rest of the cast is coming together quickly. The story is about teenagers battling to the death in.. The Hunger Games (duh) so there needs to be a lot of other teens cast. Lets see. First we have the team of Jack Quaid as Marvel and Leven Rambin as Glimmer, then we have the team of Dayo Okeniyi as Thresh and Amandla Stenberg as Rue. They’ll go up against Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta.

Additional casting news says that Elizabeth Banks will likely join the film playing Effie Trinket, who is an escort for District 12. I still haven’t read the book (maybe after The Great Gatsby), so I can’t tell if when they say ‘escort’ they mean prostitute, but I hope so, cause Elizabeth Banks is a beauty, and that’s a fantasy I need to be having.

The Dark Knight Rises

The casting news for The Dark Knight Rises is only sorta surprising. The actors are old news at this point, but we do have their characters set. Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have been known to be in the film for a while, but their roles are new. Cotillard will be playing Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member who hopes to convince Bruce Wayne to continue his father’s philanthropic endeavors. Gordon-Levitt will be playing John Blake, a young beat cop who has a special duty assigned to him by Commissioner Gordon. I’m guess Blake will be the guy asked by Gordon to either hunt down Batman, or perhaps to only pretend to be hunting Batman when in reality he’s helping Batman. Of course, I’m just speculating, so maybe he’s the guy who hires Elizabeth Banks to be an ‘escort’ for Gordon when he’s working late. Cops need love too, man.

Bridesmaids, aka lady Hangover, has a new trailer, and boy, I could NOT be more excited. Wait. I mean I COULD be more excited, cause I’m not really excited at all. Whatever. I’m sure it’ll be funny, I just don’t care. Women are only in existence to be used by men. Right?

The Help

The Help, starring Gwen Stacy/Emma Stone, has a trailer up that makes up feel good about race relations in the 1960s. At least, I think that’s what it’s about. I was looking for porn while the trailer played in the background. Did I get that right? Man, I’m asking a lot of questions of you today. This must be murder on the Canadians, who don’t understand that they don’t need to answer. Rhetorical questions don’t exist north of Minnesota. So Alaskans are screwed too.

X-Men: First Class

X-Men: First Class has had some good posters, and some not so good posters. This new poster is one of the ‘not so good’ kind. You can always tell when Professor X’s head has been photoshopped when it looks all funny and like his neck might be broken. It makes me uncomfortable. Also, the shot of Mystique isn’t as exciting as I’d hoped. Jennifer Lawrence is hot! Make her naked and covered in blue stuff and I’ll be happy. Sheesh. It isn’t exactly hard. Yet. (get it?)

Green Lantern

Green Lantern is going to be terrible. This new poster furthers my point. You’re welcome. You don’t need to see this. I normally don’t go this negative, and I will absolutely see the film cause I like the character and I like to get angry, but you don’t need to waste your time. Look at how stupid this is! STUPID. Stupid. Stu… you get the point.
