I think we have our Roland Deschain! Also, even MORE pics from Fright Night, a little possible Gatsby casting, The Crow’s new director, and a new Hesher trailer.
The Dark Tower
We’ve heard this rumor before, but apparently Javier Bardem is close to signing a deal to play Roland Deschain in The Dark Tower! This is awesome news. I’ve heard Christian Bale’s name a few times also, and while he would be pretty good, Bardem is a better, nay, PERFECT choice for Roland. He’ll bring the kind of nobility that the role needs. I’m very excited.
Keep in mind that the deal is not finalized nor officially announced, so things could still change.
I put up a couple pics of Fright Night yesterday, and there are already more. Wow. Now I have no choice but to be excited, right? Well, not really, but I do have some extra hope, and the pics look okay. I like Colin Farrell as the bad dude, and Anton Yelchin is a pretty good young actor, so there is reason to hope.
The Great Gatsby
Baz Luhrmann’s 3D adaptation of The Great Gatsby starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, and Carey Mulligan is close to signing Ben Affleck to play the part of Carey’s husband in the film, Tom Buchanan. I’m not against this casting, but I still think of Affleck as a crap actor, even after how good he was in The Town.
The remake of The Crow has signed Juan Carlos Fresnadillo to direct. He’s actually not a bad choice, as he did 28 Weeks Later, which was consistent with 28 Days Later while still being its own film. I figure he’ll be similar enough to the original The Crow without being a slave to the material. And even if he does essentially just remake the original, you could do worse.
I’m actually kinda excited for Hesher. It’s a small Indie film, even if it does have some A-List talent like Natalie Portman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and there’s a new trailer up that was made by the director. I like the heavy metal. Makes me want to spit in the eye of authority and dress in black. Oh wait. Those are the SAME THING. Black clothes forever, yo.
