Judy Moody (2011)

Judy Moody is a kid’s movie about a young girl’s summer. All of her friends get to go to summer camp, but Judy Moody is left at home with one friend and her brother. Just when all seems lost, her kooky Aunt comes to town and she has a summer to remember!

I actually wrote that intro. I didn’t copy it from a movie poster or official synopsis from the studio. I’m just such an amazing writer that I can do that. SNAPDRAGON!

Anyways, Judy Moody is a book series with a total of 8 books currently in the print. Over 12 million copies have been sold. “12 million?” says Harry Potter. “I do 12 million before BREAKFAST. SNAPDRAGON.” (Harry Potter’s snapdragon isn’t as cool as mine, but it IS more magical)

The Scoop

Judy Moody is being directed by John Schultz, whose past work includes The Honeymooners, Like Mike, Drive me Crazy, and The Making of ‘Jurassic Park.’ I wasn’t excited until I heard about that last one. That was the BEST making of EVER. The screenplay was co-written by book author Megan McDonald. So it should maintain the wonders of the book, but on screen.

Not yet.

What’s Good About It?

Heather Graham is the crazy aunt. I’d let her be my crazy aunt. Wait. That doesn’t make sense…

What’s Bad About It?

I don’t really know the series, as I’m not 8.

Our Clever Prediction

Judy Moody is set to be released on June 10, so the studio must be hopeful for a good turnout. I think it might be okay. No doubt it won’t have the huge numbers of a Pixar film, but it also must not have cost nearly so much to make, so it should be at least pretty successful.
