Intruders (2011)

Intruders is a thriller starring Clive Owen as a family man who is trying to protect his daughter from… some sort of demon or something like that. It’s relatively vague, but Clive Owen is cool.

Not a ton of details have been released on Intruders as of yet, although much of the story is said to be about an 11 year old girl who has to confront either HER demons or just demons in general. But it IS supposed to be scary, so I don’t think this is a “Are you there God? It’s me, Margaret.” type of confrontation with demons.

Intruders is being directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, who the trailer says is ‘visionary’ although I fail to see it. 28 Weeks Later was good, but it followed the same vision that Danny Boyle created for 29 Days Later. He is the same director who was recently cast for The Crow remake, so let’s hope that ‘visionary’ thing is true.

What’s Good About It?

Clive Owen is a good actor, and he generally pics good films, so I think there’s at least potential here. If Fresnadillo turns out to be even a bit visionary, then we might have a genuinely good thriller on our hands.

What’s Bad About It?

It just seems a little too Paranormal Activity to me. I know it doesn’t have the same shaky camera thing, but I’m just bored with this overdone idea.

Our Clever Prediction

It’s horror, so Intruders should make some money. It has a solid star, although Clive isn’t backed up by big names, so who’s to say?

Huh? This is where I’m supposed to say? For sure? Hmmmm…

$84.3 Million overall box office. Don’t forget the .3.
