Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (2011)

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is about a nine year old boy with a plethora of hobbies who searches for a lock to a mysterious key left by his father, who died in the 9/11 attacks.

This movie is gonna make a bajillion dollars and Hanks is gonna get an Oscar nomination out of it.

Sorry, that should go lower, but it really just seems like Oscar bait. Fortunately, it has Tom Hanks, who’s so likable I’ll allow it.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is being directing by Stephen Daldry, who directed The Reader, The Hours and Billy Elliot. The screenplay was written by Eric Roth, who wrote The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Forest Gump, and the story is based on the novel by Jonathan Safran Foer, who wrote the book that Everything is Illuminated was based on.

Pretty good talent overall.

What’s Good About It?

Awesome cast, good director, good writer. This film is gonna be great.

Also, it’s getting a limited release before the end of the year, which means the studio has faith that it’ll do well at all the award shows.

What’s Bad About It?

I’ve got nothing. Well, I guess it does seem a bit much, with the 9/11 stuff, but Tom Hanks is a pretty respectful guy. I think he’ll make it work.

Our Clever Prediction

I see a solid, over $100 million box office, and quite a bit of award love. Overall a success.

    • @Alice,

It MEANS I feel Hollywood cashing in on a tragedy like 9/11 to make money seems wrong, but I do say that Tom Hanks is a respectful guy, and I don’t think he’d make a film like this if it wasn’t good and honors the people who died that day.

      That’s what it MEANS.
