CandyLand (2011)

Do you like candy? No, I’m not going to ask you to get into my car. But you can enjoy Candyland! Based on the board game by Hasbro, Universal has decided the game is worthy of a film, and has hired screenwriter Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder, Sherlock Holmes) and director Kevin Lima (Enchanted) to develop the project.

Little is known at this time. But imagine a river of chocolate, and… Wait, that was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Okay, imagine a film without a plot or any memorable characters based on a game that I don’t really remember. Now whisper, “Candyland.” I have a good feeling that this is how the film was pitched to Universal. Now if they’ll just buy my story about Minesweeper…

Who’s It For?

Anyone who has dreams and loves candy.

Movie Release Date

Sometime in 2011

For some reason I can only picture Toys with Robin Williams. Director previously worked on Enchanted, and the writer has recently written Tropic Thunder and Sherlock Holmes.

What’s Good About It?

Any film based on a board game turns out awesome. Lets hope it has multiple endings like Clue!

What’s Bad About It?

Cavities. And the bright colors of the film will probably inform my nightmares for the next few years.

Our Clever Prediction

I’m not giving it one chance in fifty until I see a trailer or at least some on set pics.
