Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has a shot of Wonder Woman! Mad Max: Fury Road shows off some impressive stunts, The Avengers: Age of Ultron completes a poster set, Horns sets up a solid looking film, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 offers up some moderately interesting leadership, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For has a red band Comic Con trailer, and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies reveals its first teaser!
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice
You know what? As much as I don’t love Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and all subsequent Justice League and DC movies, she looks pretty cool here. She is a little scrawny, but not horribly so, and the suit looks amazing. I don’t love the way the headband looks – too high I think – but the rest looks ready for battle! ALSO, there’s going to be a very brief teaser trailer soon. A few folks saw it at Comic Con, and I’m hoping it’s attached to Guardians of the Galaxy. The descriptions make it sound very brief, just showing Batman in some epic battle armor, turning on the bat signal, seeing Superman floating up in the sky looking really pissed, with his eyes glowing red.
Mad Max: Fury Road
Mad Max: Fury Road has a trailer and some new posters that really make me excited for this film. I enjoyed the original trilogy, though I can’t claim to be a true die hard fan of Mad Max. That said, this looks incredible, Tom Hardy looks like an outstanding choice for Max, and the stunts and art style look ridiculous in a perfect way for Mad Max. I’m digging it.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron
The Avengers: Age of Ultron has a couple new posters today that complete the set started last week. They show off The Hulk and Thor. There’s also a pic that somehow should go in front of the basic poster that shows Captain America’s indestructible shield broken into pieces. I’m guessing Ultron does that, though I suppose Hulk could’ve done it too. Remember, Thor’s hammer hit that shield in the first Avengers and just bounced off. It’s a tough shield. You gotta hit it pretty darn hard to break it. I think it’d be cool if Ultron showed that striking the shield is a mistake, since it’s made of Vibranium, which dissipates kinetic energy. So he maybe just snaps it through slowly applied pressure. At least, that’s how I’d do it. And I’m the man.
Horns has a new trailer that really gives a better idea of the arc Harry Potter is going to go through in the film. He is accused of doing something he either didn’t do, or doesn’t remember doing, but either way doesn’t feel happy about being accused of having done. And he sprouts demon horns that people don’t seem to react to the way you’d expect. Then he seems to have the power to get people to do bad things. Like he’s a demon or devil. It’s kinda cool.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 has a new trailer that definitely makes the film look cool. I’m impressed with how well the film handles the presence of a leader, though I’ll always have issues with the way Katniss is portrayed, since I consider her character lame and not nearly so inspiring as fans of the books believe. I’m probably in the wrong, God knows there are more people who love her than think she’s worthless like me, but she has never come across as strong in my book. Yes, it’s good she doesn’t want to lead. Good leaders aren’t power mad, but she doesn’t come across as someone who can inspire the troops. It’s just the girl power crap of the lazy author. They could’ve made her strong by getting her to make smart decisions. They failed at that too. Oh well.
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For has a new red band trailer that isn’t really very good. This just seems so uninspired. There’s little to no quality action, the visuals don’t really pop, and they are avoiding quality nudity. Maybe Eva Green won’t be so blurry in the main film, but I want titties. DANG IT. And the action just looks second rate this time around. I liked the first film more.
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies has revealed its first trailer, and it’s pretty intense. It’s been quite a while since I read the book, but I thought they killed Smaug, took his gold, put the dwarves back in their kingdom, and that was it. Bilbo goes home, on with it. But no. There really is some big war or battle with a ton of different people involved. I suppose it’ll make for one heck of an epic battle by the end. So that’s something.
