Never Tear Us Apart: The Untold Story of INXS is a biopic of the massively successful 80’s Australian band INXS. From their origins to stadium-filling success, the band’s meteoric rise and the death of lead singer Michael Hutchence will be covered in the new film.
I don’t know that much about INXS, but I do like the song Need You Tonight. It was a very cool song and Michael Hutchence was pretty much the coolest looking rocker around for a time. I kinda doubt that many people were clamoring for this biopic, but the band did have some fun, and it’s always nice to see that basically every single rock band in history follows the same pattern of hard work, success, drug addiction, then massive failure and either the cool dudes getting fat or dying. A few die at the height of their fame and live forever, and a very very few actually age well enough to be legends without the death.
Never Tear Us Apart: The Untold Story of INXS is going to be a two part TV movie down under, directed by Daina Reid, whose parents must have had dyslexia, since her vowels are on backwards. Regardless, her work is mainly TV stuff, and I think mostly from Australia, since I don’t recognize her stuff.
and this is just hilarious:
Damon Herriman… Chris Murphy
Luke Arnold… Michael Hutchence
Ido Drent… Jon Farriss
Nick Masters… Tim Farriss
Never Tear Us Apart: The Untold Story of INXS does tell the story of one of rock’s cooler bands, and the soundtrack should be great if you’re a fan of the band.
Um… just to be clear, though this is a rock and roll biopic about an Australian band, it’s not about AC/DC, so it’s not as good as that would be.
Since this is for TV, it’s not like there’s going to be a box office success here, but the trailer looks good enough, and it should be fun and a great film for fans of the band, so long as Luke Arnold nails it as lead singer Michael Hutchence. He was a pretty epic singer.
