Wonder Woman is an adaptation of the popular comic book character in the DC Universe.
A New Wonder Woman Movie?
The Wonder Woman Movie is still a ways off, so there are few details at present. The film has gone through more writers and directors than Gigli. In some ways, the character should be easy to make into a film, but with how iconic she’s become, it may prove difficult for a movie studio to appropriately adapt the comic for the screen.
Wonder Woman Trailer
Nope, but I’m tempted to throw in a Linda Carter moment in here just to throw you off. Ah heck, I just can’t help myself now. I’m sure the Wonder Woman 2013 Movie will be better than this, or can it be? How can you top this moment in time?
The Scoop
Joss Whedon was attached a few years ago to write and direct the film, but he left in 2007 due to creative differences with the studio. As of now, it looks like Matthew Jennison has been charged with writing the screenplay, although who knows if his script will make it to the screen. Various actresses have been rumored for the role, such as Kate Beckinsale, Sandra Bullock, and Beyonce. It cannot be Beyonce. I will freak out. I have nothing against her, and I’m not some racist ass, but she is not right for the role. This shouldn’t be about making a politcal statement. It’s a comic book film. Just make it good.
Who’s It For?
Probably PG-13.
Movie Release Date
Wonder Woman stinks up the theaters 2013.
Who’s In It?
No Confirmed Casting as of yet although rumours of Jessica Alba and Lindsay Lohan have been thrown around. Seriously? Lohan is hot right now, she has the chest to fill the upper role of the vivacious wonder woman.. but I don’t see it.
Interesting Fact
There are various backstories for Wonder Woman, but the one I’m most familiar with named her mother Hippolyta, who was killed by Herakles in an ancient myth, then he stole her belt.
What’s Good About It?
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. If you get a good director with a good script, most comic book characters can be adapted for the big screen.
What’s Bad About It?
I see Wonder Woman being especially hard for Hollywood to make, as they’ll see her as a model for feminism or some such nonsense, when she isn’t. The best possible storyline for the film will actually serve to undercut the principles of militant feminists. For example, Wonder Woman, the Ambassador of the Amazons who has been told her entire life that men are bad, visits with the rest of the world and learns that men aren’t so bad, she falls in love (with a dude no less) and fights a villain who is most likely female. So a chick will be the bad guy, and she’ll learn to love a man. Not exactly the man-hating storyline that many are looking for.
Our Clever Prediction
I’m thinking this one may be even further away than 2013. I think the studio will wait for the sequel to The Dark Knight and probably even the next Superman film before giving this the green light. DC hasn’t had the same success as Marvel, so they’ll more than likely be more careful before throwing $100 million into this project.
Wonder Woman is going to be something terrible, you can count on it.

I would say the perfect person to play wonder woman’s role would be Mickie James.She has the looks & the charisma.A professional athlete in which will come handy since wonder woman does do kick ass’n moves(if you don’t know who Mickie James is google her & then you’ll understand why she is perfect for the “kick ass” role)
@Rob,
Nicely put, too bad Demi Moore is too old for the role.. I’m torn on who would be decent as Wonder Woman.
Back in 2004– there were rumors of Sandra Bullock. I almost choked on my pastrami sandwich when I heard someone say it. I love S.B., but
she is most definitely NOT “Wonder Woman material.” I kept fantasizing about LUCY LAWLESS taking the role– except that there’s something I really can’t put my finger on with actors, who’ve played “super-hero” types in the past, NOT being appropriate; which is why I feel (as much as I adore her) Kate Beckinsale should not be cast. Neither should Jessica Alba. Neither should Megan Fox (not for a second, please)!
Uh…that whole BEYONCE thing is just stoopid; I mean, I’m sorry…it’s just ridiculous. IF they wanted to chose an actress who is of color– perhaps someone with the “look” of KATERINA GRAHAM (witch– Bonnie Bennett on Vampire Diaries). My only reservation with Kat Graham, herself, doing it is that she’s likely TOO SHORT! Sad, but true. I mean, maybe not. With today’s technological break-throughs (think hobbits) it might be doable! Who knows.
I feel that AMAZON women need to be a little bit less fair-skinned. Kinda like Katerina Graham
) So…perhaps a light-skinned hispanic actress might be the proper middle-ground. I could see Alana de la Garza (Law & Order’s Connie Rubirosa) playing the role. She’s gorgeous, built, has a perfect command of the English language, looks great hair done up (for Diana) or down/loose (for Wonder Woman)…but she’s such a long-shot and probably hasn’t got any director/producer’s eye, right now (sigh).
Monica Bellucci (Merovingian’s wife of The Matrix) might’ve been a SMASH as Wonder Woman. Salma Hayek (sans accent, 10-15 yrs ago) would have been a good choice as well– but thee actresses are well-past their prime, already– leaving NO MARGIN for sequels, at their ages!
But…after all is said and done– I wouldn’t be too displeased if Erica Durance got the role!
)
Harry,
I have thought about who should play Wonder Woman. As of 2 yrs ago I finally gave up on Sarah Michelle Geller or Eliza Dushku. Erica Durance would be perfect.
There is only one person who can look and act like the role of Wonder Woman and make it feel right – that’s Erica Durance.
