Prisoners is a new thriller about two families whose daughters are kidnapped. The lengths to which the parents and police will go to find the girls takes up the bulk of the film.
You can get a lot of the story, at least the broad strokes, from the trailer, which looks pretty good. Hugh Jackman is one father, and Terrence Howard is the other. The police track down a suspect pretty quick, but find no trace of the girls and are forced to let the guy go. Hugh Jackman goes after the guy for answers, and even goes to extreme lengths to get the guy to talk.
But the suspect may not have done it. They may have the wrong guy. What do they do?
Prisoners comes from director Denis Villenueve, who has mostly made French films up until this point. So this film will probably have really snooty and pretentious directing.
The screenplay is by Aaron Guzikwoski, who made the Academy Award winner Contraband, starring Mark Wahlberg.
What’s that? It didn’t win any Academy Awards? And it was shit? Oh.

The trailer for Prisoners looks good, and it has a heck of a cast. The premise is a little played out though, so while this might be a very good version of this kinda film, it might not be all that original.
Well, I sorta just said the premise is a bit played out… So I’ll just stick with that.
Uh… Hugh Jackman with a sweet goatee? YEAH. I THINK IT’LL DO WELL.
Cause he rocks that shit.
