Mama is a horror film about a couple who suddenly find themselves the guardians of nieces they never knew they had. The two girls somehow survived for 5 years in the woods alone, but when they show up at the house strange things start happening, and it appears they might not have been as alone as originally thought…
Lucas had a brother who was killed years before. He also had two nieces who went missing the night of the murders. Fast forward five years and it turns out his nieces are still alive. He’s the only family left, so he takes them in. He and his wife do their best to help the girls acclimate to society. They’re strange though. Very strange. And they talk about a “Mama” who they seem to be able to see, though no one else can. Who this Mama is and what she can do will unfold over time. And the results may prove terrifying…
Mama
Mama comes from director/co-writer Andres Muschietti and other co-writers Neil Cross and Barbara Muschietti. The big selling point for many people is that Guillermo Del Toro is producing, and he likes his horror and has an eye for good stories and good filmmakers. This could be good!

What’s Good About It?
I really like Guillermo Del Toro, so his producing of Mama gives me a lot of hope. The trailer is pretty creepy, and Jessica Chastain is quite an actress. She elevates this a lot.
What’s Bad About It?
I’m a little skeptical about the plot, and I’d prefer it if Mama doesn’t go supernatural, though I believe it will.
Our Clever Prediction
I think Mama will make some good money, and as it’s horror I seriously doubt it cost much to make. Mama comes out in January, and no doubt people will be looking for a good horror film to warm them up during that cold month….
Man, that was a lame line… Lame and AWESOME!
