Lloyd the Conqueror (2013)

Lloyd the Conqueror is a comedy about college students who decide that having sex and getting STDs is no fun, so they partake in LARPing activities instead.

They decide that they must take on a dark wizard. One who has control of the LARPing game. THAT SON OF A…

Witch.

GET IT? CAUSE THEY’RE LARPERS AND SO HIS MOMMA’S A WITCH. I AM SO FRICKING CLEVER. GIMME AN AWARD.

Part of the plan is also to get transferred from a community college to a real college. How funny would it be if LARPing successfully was a college requirement? I’d totally have LARPed like a mofo.

Actually, I think the main guys in the film aren’t really into LARPing, but they’re forced by a teacher/principle to join and compete to stay in school. I don’t know. Clearly this film is super complicated or I don’t care.

Lloyd the Conqueror

Lloyd the Conqueror was co-written and directed by Michael Peterson, and his writing partner is Andrew Herman. I’ve never heard of any of Peterson’s work. No doubt he’s amazing.

What’s Good About It?

I like making fun of weirdos. But not my weirdos. I’d totally LARP if they’d let me. I never get to wear my codpiece.

What’s Bad About It?

Nothing. I’m not going to badmouth a movie that has wizards in it. Even if they’re pretending. You never know. I don’t want to be turned into a frog.

Our Clever Prediction

I don’t see Lloyd the Conqueror making a whole lot of money, but I do think it’ll make a ton of very nerdy, strange people happy.

And that’s what the world is all about.
