Identity Thief is a comedy about a man tracking down the woman who has stolen his identity and is using it to live the high life. The woman seems harmless enough, but she proves herself to be quite cunning and devious.
Sandy is a regular joe. Very mild-mannered. Simple. No one would ever expect him to do anything crazy. When he finds out his credit card no longer works, he can’t believe it. He hardly uses it! He discovers his identity has been stolen.
When he finds out his identity has been stolen, Sandy goes after her. He thinks he can handle this little lady. He is fucking wrong.
DID YOU LIKE THE SWEAR? It was unexpected, and therefore hilarious. I love being awesome.
Identity Thief is, in many ways, much like my swear joke. It’s unexpected. It’s funny. It’s gonna be good.
Unlike me, it’s not handsome. Well, Jason Bateman is pretty good looking, but he’s not me.
Identity Thief
Identity Thief comes from Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon. Gordon is coming along as a director. Four Christmases was a shit-turd (couldn’t decide on the poop-synonym, so I combined them), but Horrible Bosses was funny. Writers Craig Mazin and Jerry Eeten are both pretty talented, well, at least Mazin is, he cowrote The Hangover 2 and has some other decent experience. Eeten is a little less experienced but the film looks funny regardless.

What’s Good About It?
The trailer for Identity Thief looks funny, leads Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy are both hilarious, and the director has a good sense of humor. So far. so good.
What’s Bad About It?
I don’t have anything bad to say about Identity Thief just yet. Maybe when it gets closer to the February release date I’ll have seen something bad.
Our Clever Prediction
I think Identity Thief will be a decent success. The stars may not have the biggest box office drawing power, but Bateman has some and they’re both very talented and funny. I expect good things from Identity Thief.
