Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (2013)

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is a sequel to 2009’s Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, an animated film about a small town where food falls from the sky.

From what I gather, in the original film a scientist created a machine that turned water into food. But it got out of hand, and I think turned the water in the atmosphere into various foods, such as meatballs. In the sequel, the scientist finds out his evil machine is still transforming food, but now it’s also creating food-based monsters, such as tacodiles and shrimpanzees. I realize shrimp are food, but they’re also an animal, so that just sounds like a mutant blend of two animals. Sweet.

And the scientist must stop yet another instance of his machine getting out of hand. And there will probably be meatballs falling from the sky.

Cloudy with a Chance of MeatBalls 2

Cloudy with a Chance of MeatBalls 2 has two directors, Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn. Both were involved in the original, with Pearn Head of Story and Cameron one of the voice actors. So they’re both familiar with the story. Since the visual style is fairly well set and the tone has been developed they just need to tell a good story with some charm. I think they’ve got this.
